Bringing grass into the office/home

I think these grass planters are so cool! They come in several different shapes - circle, rectangle, and square - and you can stack them to conserve space. They seem like a great decoration for a room and brighten up your environment... The link leads to a good website too; inhabitat - lots of green products!

Portable Fish Bowl

What a crazy idea! I find it pretty interesting that someone would actually build a fish bowl specifically designed to be carried to different places. But, I must say, it would be handy if you were really attached to your fishy and lived in two houses, or if you traveled a lot...

London Design Week '07: Handled With Care

'Handled With Care', a display of modern ceramics, seems to have been a good exhibition. The creations shown in this blog were very interesting and unique. The "pixy" bowls by Inge Venderbosch were my favorite pieces pictured.

True History of the Kelly Gang

I am currently reading the novel 'True History of the Kelly Gang' by Peter Carey. This is the life story of an Irish boy, Ned Kelly and his family, who live in Australia in the late 1800's. Ned's father ends up in jail and dies when Ned is twelve, leaving him as the one to care for his mother and her other six children. Now that Mr. Kelly has died, several suitors come to court Ned's mother. Where I am now Ned is fourteen and has ended up becoming apprentice to the infamous bushranger Harry Power.

What I have learned in computer applications

In our class, I have learned about the the different parts of a computer. I knew about some of the outer components beforehand, but I didn't know much about things like the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. I have learned some about how different computer components work. For example, I found out that the hard drive stores saved information magnetically and that the sound card is specialized to take digital information it receives and translate it into analogue. And I have learned what some of the computer-related terms stand for. ( The term WiFi stands for "wireless fidelity". CPU is "central processing unit", RAM is "random access memory", and USB is "universal serial bus".) This relates to TEKS requirement 6(C); describing processes used in computer technology.
