12/17/07 - Exam Day & New Project
Today I don't have to do the final, which is a detailed mla essay about what you have learned in this class. Juliet and I will be probably be presenting our project towards the end of the testing time, but Mister Bjerke said we might have to wait to present. I hope it goes well...
Working on this project relates to TEKS 6(b), identifying, selecting, and sequencing the proper computer resources to complete a project; 9(b), developing a plan for completing a project; 11(b), describing how technology has affected individuals, societies, cultures, economies, and environments; 13(b), applying critical-thinking strategies to the analysis and evaluation of proposed technological solutions; and 15(a), preparing technical reports and presentations. I am soooo tired.
Well, we are going to do our presentation at another time. Maybe after the break? I do not know...

12/14 - New Project
Today I worked on Chapter 7; I got to page 222, step 9. I learned about altering text. (This included formatting, changing fonts and font colors, etc.) I also learned about creating and saving different character and paragraph styles, applying effects to text, and about typing on a path. The work I did today relates to TEKS 2(d), identifying and describing roles of computer technology, (because we are applying the things we learn to creating posters, logos...) and 3(c), using graphic software to create and modify images. I am so happy that we only had to finish up to Chapter 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! Peace and Love!

12/13 - New Project
Today I worked on Chapter 6 again. I am still not quite finished with it. There are a few more pages, but I got the part that involves creating things you actually save is finished. I'm staying after school today to work, but I can only stay until five. Hopefully I will be able to get Chapter 6 done with, and at least start Chapter 7. Today I learned about using Live Color to color objects. (I liked doing this section because it is so colorful! Not to mention, professional-looking...) I learned, also, about creating color groups to use for a specific artwork. I think I'm starting to get the hang of Illustrator. My work today relates to TEKS 3(c), using graphic software to create and modify images, and 4(b), conducting research and experimentation in computer technology. Plus, the essay/presentation I am doing for my semester exam relates to TEK 6(b), identifying, selecting, and sequencing the proper computer resources to complete a project.

12/11- new section
After
Today I continued working on Chapter 5; a particularly long and involved section. I came in early this morning to work on it, but by the time class started I realized I had made a major mistake and had to start the section over. I am currently on page 144. My goal was to reach Lesson 11, but I might have to drop that to Lesson 9... I am currently creating the pear. Today I learned about altering shapes using the direct selection tool (as well as others), and more about creating curved lines. (It makes a lot more sense to me today than it did yesterday.) To create an upward curve, you create an anchor point using the pen tool by clicking a desired position on your artboard. You then drag up on the handle that appears. Next, you click on the location you want for the next anchor point and drag the handle down. This relates to TEKS 7(b), following safety manuals, instructions, and requirements, and 9(b), developing a plan for completing a project, since I am currently having to plan for my semester presentation/essay and illustrator project.

12/10 - new project
finished
Today I finished Chapter 4 and got through page 131 of Chapter 5. There are lots of individual projects involved in Chapter 5, so I have lots of pictures today. The major things I learned about involved creating lines and curves. This relates to TEKS 3(c), using graphic software to create and modify images, and 18(h), completing work according to established criteria. I find creating curves a bit hard; hopefully I'll get the hang of it tomorrow.

12/7
Today I worked on chapter four again. I still did not get to finish though!!! Frustration mania. I think I'll have to go in early every day next week. I REALLY hope I can finish. Ahhhhhhhhhh! I learned from today's lessons about about how to change the viewpoint of text, how to alter the appearance of objects by rotating, etc., and about creating a logo. These things relate to TEKS 2(d), identifying and describing roles of computer technology, and 3(c), using graphic software to create and modify images. This weekend I will be working on my semester exam project; writting the MLA paper on green building.

12/6 New Project
Today I took the Pop Quiz, which was not bad at all. Then I had to work on the Chapter 4 project again. I did not finish, sadly, but I will try to come in early tomorrow to get some more finished. I learned from this lesson how to change the size of objects and about a few different ways to rotate them. This relates to TEKS 3(c), using graphic software to create and modify images, and 7(b), following safety manuals, instructions, and requirements.

12/3 - new project
Finished
Today I finished the Selecting/Aligning beginning project (the one with the planes). Since I you didn't really make any changes on to those pictures, I did not post a picture for it. However, I shall list some of the things I learned from the project; how to select, group, and ungroup objects, as well as what these actions can be used to do. After finishing that, I worked on the flower picture. That assignment was basically the application of the skills learned in the airplane/apple/fish/hat steps. And after that, I did the french fries project. I learned from that how to hide an object, how to select certain similar objects at once, how to change line thickness, about aligning objects to different reference points, etc. My work today relates to TEKS 3(c), using graphic software to modify an image, and 6(a), describing the properties and characteristics of computer-related hardware and software.
I am also currently working on my semester presentation/essay/handout. This relates to TEKS 18(b), using teamwork to solve problems (since I'm working with a partner), and 6(b), identifying, selecting, and sequencing proper computer resources to complete a project. (This TEK also applies to what we learned about reliable sources the other day.)
